Dans Clinch Playoff Spot

The Danville Dans punched their ticket into Prospect League post-season play  with a 6-2 win at Chillicothe Sunday night. This is the second year in a row the Dans have made the playoffs.

The Dans and Paints are currently tied in the standings. Danville host Terre Haute Monday and Tuesday nights at 6:30 pm each evening. Chillicothe goes to West Virginia for their final two games.

Danville and the Paints will square off in a one-game Divisional Playoff on Thursday, August 8. But we don't know where yet. The higher team in the standings will host. If the two teams tie, Danville holds the tie-breaker.

The Divisional Playoff winners will then meet in the best-of-three Championship Series. The first game will be Saturday, August 10, hosted by the team with the second-best record. Games 2 and 3 (if needed) will be played Monday and Tuesday, August 12 & 13, at the site of the team with the best overall record.

Dans Shine at All-Star Game

The best players in the Prospect League faced off in the Prospect League All-Star Game on Tuesday at the Corn Crib.

In the end, it was the East Division team who came out on top with an 11-2 win over the West Division.

Danville's Max Jung-Goldberg was the MVP of the game, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs for the East.

"It was a lot of fun, we tried to take the moment in and being with the guys from other teams," Jung-Goldberg said. "The biggest thing is to have fun every day and just competing and giving 100 percent every day."

Teammate Andrew Meggs was 1-for 2, Ryan Archibald was 0-for-2, Brad Powers was 0-for-3 and Craig Kuechel came in but did not get an at-bat. Dans pitcher Ryan Patel got the start in the game and pitched just the first inning, giving up a run on two hits.

Chris Monroe also had three RBIs for the West, while Mitchell Garrity, Stephen Cullen, Matt Rubayp and Jacob Mulcahy each had one RBI.

For the West, Tyler Clark-Chiapparelli and Jack Surin each had one RBI.

The All-Star break for the Dans will end on Thursday, when they host the Springfield Sliders at 6:30 p.m. in Danville Stadium.
